Aisha White is a mother of 2 and grandmother of 4. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh where she grew up in the Bedford Avenue and Chauncey Drive housing projects in the Hill District. She has held coordinator and director positions at such organizations as Beginning with Books and Family Communications -now Fred Rogers Productions- where she currently serves as a consultant to the Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood animated children’s television show. She has been engaged in arts, education, and social activism efforts since the late 1970s. She has also been involved in racial awareness work for more than 10 years. She served as the director of the Ready Freddy Pathways to Kindergarten Success program prior to taking on her current position as director of the P. R. I. D. E. (positive racial identity development in early education) program at the University of Pittsburgh Office of Child Development.
